The International Society for Superhero Studies was founded in 2023. Its aims are to foster research into superhero studies in all its manifestations. It aims to provide a platform to promote and support academic interest in superhero studies on a global scale and to facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation and networking opportunities for its members. The International Society for Superhero Studies welcomes all those engaged in or connected with the study of superhero narratives and associated discourses.

The website represents the hub for members and wider community of the International Society for Superhero Studies as part of the diversified activities of The Superhero Project. The Society provides its members with a newsletter service, networking opportunities via a list of members, an annual conference, a constantly updated comprehensive bibliography of academic works in superhero studies, a video repository of papers from past conferences and links to associated networks and a media outlets.
